Subject: Haiti Came to Us!!! Saturday, March 27, 2010 Haiti Came to Us Bonjour!! Mercy!! As we heard these words we wondered....are we in Haiti? We did not feel the earth shake. All of the buildings are still standing. So why can we not understand those who are asking for help? We know we are in a foreign Caribbean country. On March 13 thirty AWESOME Liberty University students came to the Bahamas for one week. They gave up their spring break to be like Jesus to the precious people who live in Nassau, Bahamas. Some of the LU team were nursing students and some were part of a STEP team at the university. When the free health clinic opened it's doors on Monday morning, there were people waiting to have their health assessed. It was like that for the next three days; people waiting for the team. Mothers bringing their children, the elderly came, and even the twenty somethings came. After they saw the nurse practitioner, we provided a week of free medicine. So many were so grateful since they did not have money for medicine. While the 14 student nursing students were being the hands of Jesus in the clinics, 16 other students was doing evangelism. Bridging the Gap ministry performed a STEP program in churches, public schools, as well as near the cruise ship dock. The team also went door to door sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ. Over 12 people gave their lives to Jesus Christ. YES...we thought we went to the Bahamas (which we did), but it seemed like Haiti came to us!! Almost everyone who came to the clinic was Haitian!! OH yes we did also interact with many Bahamians. It just seemed like we all came to be blessed in a cross-culture country. Instead we all left with our lives changed and challenged by God as we journey in our christian life. What is in store for the Liberty University next year during spring break? The plan is to go to a country of 1.4 million people where 27% claim to be either Hindus or Muslims. It will be in Trinidad where we will share the love of Jesus through a free clinic and other out reach opportunities. Why not come with us!?!?!?

Wow a lot happened the week you were born!

My water broke on your sister Karen's birthday, March 3rd. We were celebrating Karen's birthday and I made this delicious Devil's food chocolate cake. I didn't get to have any, because they say when your in labor, not to eat! Little did I know you wouldn't be born for another 5 days! I had labor on and off for a few days, nothing big. Finally on the 7th, they had me come in for induction. I was so nervous, because of a possible C-section could occur. All my labors have been short and I was not looking forward to this kind of delivery. You were 3 weeks early and my body was not ready to deliver yet, they told me...

I was hooked up to pitocin (a drug to facilitate labor) and in a total of 5 hours from start to finish, you were born!

I was excited to have you in "The Birthing Room" With your sisters I had to go to the OR, because in those days, that's what they did!

You were so tiny, 5 pounds 14 and a half ounces and 18 inches long! I remember you crying softly, and Dad went over to you and said "what are you crying about?" you turned your head and looked at him and stopped and listen. Ah, your the same way today! A fantastic listener!

Can't wait to meet your BABY!

Grandchild #5 What a Blessing you are to our Family!

Kara turned 7 on March 6th! She is sandwiched between, her Mom's birthday on the 3rd and Aunt Brittany's on the 7th!

Kara, I was there the day You were born! I got a call from your Mom in the middle of the night and off we went to see you! It was snowing and so cold out! I'll never forget the day you were born! You came out and laid in your baby warmer looking all around! Daddy would talk to you and you would turn your head toward him and look right at him! It was so CUTE!

Pops and I are so glad God put you in our family! We love you so much!

Happy Birthday Karen!

What I remember the most about you as a baby is, you were so good! You were a great sleeper and would only wake to eat! You loved playing with your dolls and doll carriage. You loved Strawberry Shortcake, not the food but the dolls! We even got you Strawberry Shortcake wallpaper for your bedroom! You kept a very neat room too! We had bunk beds in your room and you loved to sleep at the top. You were a sleep walker too! I remember one time you coming into my bedroom crying. You kept saying to me "I can't find my husband?" You were 7 years old! I finally got you to wake up and you went back to bed and remembered nothing in the morning! You played the Flute and was a Brownie. I remember hosting the Girl Scoot Cookie Orders at our house! We had a couple of thousand cookies to sort threw and get out! I never did it again LOL!

You were a joy to raise KK! I can't imagine our life without YOU!
